In 2019, HSC Winnipeg Women’s Hospital moved from 735 Notre Dame Avenue to its new home at 665 William Avenue.
We celebrated many historic milestones that year. We bade farewell to a 70-year-old facility at 735 Notre Dame Avenue, taking the time recognize the legacy of the former site and bless staff as they transitioned to the new facility at 665 William Avenue.
We also met our deadline of safely moving 93 patients on December 1 to the new state-of-the-art building, over a short period of four hours, with the move starting at 8 a.m. and the last patient moving at 12:05 p.m.

Clinical commissioning, 2019

Virtual tour of the facility, 2019
Guided tours for staff were offered for a full week, and members of the public were invited for a one day only exclusive insider’s look. During tour week, from October 26 to November 2, nearly 1,200 people visited the facility and saw all of the key areas with the help of over 40 confident staff tour guides — a wonderful show of support and interest for the newest addition to our HSC campus!
Farewell event to 735 Notre Dame Avenue
The former facility at 735 Notre Dame Avenue (formerly known as the Maternity Pavilion and Women’s Pavilion), officially opened on May 6, 1950. Over its 70-year history, the hospital and its staff have contributed significantly to the field of women’s health.
At a staff-only event on Monday, November 25, we bade farewell to 735 Notre Dame Avenue, taking time to celebrate and recognize the legacy of the current hospital and bless staff as they transition to the new facility.
Special thanks to Elder Mabel Horton, and Barbara Daniels for attending and leading the celebration with a prayer, smudge, drumming and singing. Thanks to all staff for their support and participation in this meaningful event.
